May 7, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/431973
Inventors:
Mohamed Magdy Talaat - San Jose CA, US
Rick Reeve - San Francisco CA, US
Richard L. Schober - Cupertino CA, US
Prasad Vajjhala - San Jose CA, US
Yolin Lih - San Jose CA, US
Dev Datta - Fremont CA, US
Assignee:
Avago Technologies General IP (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. - Singapore
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709230, 709224, 3703955, 370464, 370469, 710315, 710105
Abstract:
A method and system of communicating data between a source interconnect device and a destination interconnect device are defined. The method includes adding an identification component to the data at the source interconnect device prior to communicating the data, and extracting the identification component at the destination interconnect device. The identification component is then processed at the destination interconnect device, the identification component relating to the contents of the data. The invention extends to a machine-readable medium embodying a set of instructions for executing the method and to an interconnect device.

Transparent Recovery Of Switch Device

US Patent:
20060059269, Mar 16, 2006
Filed:
Sep 13, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/939531
Inventors:
Chien Chen - Fremont CA, US
Richard Schober - Cupertino CA, US
Yolin Lih - San Jose CA, US
Ian Colloff - Los Gatos CA, US
Richard Reeve - San Mateo CA, US
Allen Lyu - Saratoga CA, US
Mohamed Talaat - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709235000, 709226000
Abstract:
An interconnect device for transmitting data packets includes a plurality of ports, a hub, and an arbiter. The hub is configured to connect the plurality of ports together. The arbiter is coupled to the hub for controlling transmission of data packets between the hub and the ports. A reset is provided in at least one of the ports. The reset is in communication with the arbiter such that arbiter can reset the port in response to a detected error in the port.

Fault Tolerant Memory System

View page
US Patent:
55532314, Sep 3, 1996
Filed:
Jun 6, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/470154
Inventors:
Robert L. Papenberg - San Jose CA
Runchan D. Yang - San Jose CA
David H. Wotring - San Jose CA
Mohammad F. Rydhan - San Jose CA
Paul Voloshin - San Jose CA
Mohamed M. Talaat - Mountain View CA
Assignee:
Zitel Corporation - Fremont CA
International Classification:
G01R 3128
G06F 1100
US Classification:
39518203
Abstract:
A fault tolerant clock system is provided by utilizing redundant clocks which are maintained in synchronization, with voting circuit serving to select one of a plurality of matching clock signals for use. A resistor is coupled in series between the crystal and the oscillation circuit in order to establish a desired duty cycle of the clock signal. A series connected diode capacitor network is connected between a node of the oscillator circuit and a power supply in order to ensure initiation of oscillation.

Fault Tolerant Memory System

US Patent:
53794150, Jan 3, 1995
Filed:
Sep 29, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/954169
Inventors:
Robert L. Papenberg - San Jose CA
Runchan D. Yang - San Jose CA
David H. Wotring - San Jose CA
Mohammad F. Rydhan - San Jose CA
Paul Voloshin - San Jose CA
Mohamed M. Talaat - Mountain View CA
Assignee:
Zitel Corporation - Fremont CA
International Classification:
G06F 1108
US Classification:
395575
Abstract:
A memory system in which fault tolerance is achieved utilizing redundant clocks. The redundant clocks are synchronized, and a voter is used to deselect nonmatching clocks, thereby avoiding clocking errors. A circuit is provided to ensure a nonoscillating clock provides an output level at a desired state. Another circuit is provided to ensure oscillation upon power up.
