Core Infeed Apparatus For Winder

View page
US Patent:
6422501, Jul 23, 2002
Filed:
Nov 27, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/723027
Inventors:
James E. Hertel - Green Bay WI
Thomas J. Daul - Oneida WI
Steve Jansen - De Pere WI
Assignee:
Paper Converting Machine Company - Green Bay WI
International Classification:
B65H 1928
US Classification:
2425323, 2425324, 242533
Abstract:
A core infeed apparatus for a surface winder moves an elongated core axially into the winder while an axial line of glue is applied to the core. The core is moved into a space between a pair of rotatable core guides. One of the core guides is rotatable away from the core while the other core guide rotates the core toward a core inserter. The core is transferred to the core inserter, and the core inserter rotates to move the core toward the winding rolls of the rewinder. The position of the glue line is accurately maintained as the core moves to its various positions.

US Patent:
6497383, Dec 24, 2002
Filed:
Apr 26, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/559865
Inventors:
Thomas J. Daul - Oneida WI
Steve J. Jansen - De Pere WI
Assignee:
Paper Converting Machine Company - Green Bay WI
International Classification:
B65H 1820
US Classification:
242521, 2425323, 242533, 2425412
Abstract:
A glue applicator for a web winding apparatus applies a longitudinals strip of glue to an elongated core. The stripe of glue may be applied by an elongated wire or bar, by a rotation roller, or by a sprayer. The glued core is moved by a core inserter into position for insertion into the winding apparatus so that the stripe of glue is upstream of the web and in position to contact the web at the start of a new winding cycle. A web pinch pad on the core inserter contacts the web and servers the web at the start of the winding cycle.

Center Rewinder With Two Turrets And A Bedroll With Two Transfer Positions For Transferring A Web To Each Of The Turrets

View page
US Patent:
20070084958, Apr 19, 2007
Filed:
Oct 18, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/253228
Inventors:
Thomas Daul - Oneida WI, US
David Kacynski - Green Bay WI, US
International Classification:
B65H 19/28
US Classification:
242531000, 242532400
Abstract:
A rewinder includes a bedroll and first and second turrets. Each turret includes a plurality of rotatable mandrels. The bedroll includes a web-transferring mechanism for transferring a web on the bedroll to a mandrel at first and second rotational positions of the bedroll. The first turret is rotatable to successively move each of its mandrels to a first web-transferring position adjacent the first rotational position of the bedroll. The second turret is rotatable to successively move each of its mandrels to a second web-transferring position adjacent the second rotational position of the bedroll. After a web is transferred to a mandrel, the mandrel rotates to wind the web into a log. As the web is being wound on a mandrel of one of the turrets, a completed log on the other turret is removed.

US Patent:
47296704, Mar 8, 1988
Filed:
May 18, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/050655
Inventors:

Abstract:
The bearing is used on a mechanical machine part or apparatus part which allows linear movement of the part along a second machine part or apparatus part and also allows angularity of one part with respect to the second part. A generally rectangular roller block is provided with raceways around its entire periphery. Rollers fill all of the raceways. Two opposite raceways have their rollers enclosed; the other opposite raceways have rollers which are in exposed operating positions so that they may contact the second machine. The rollers are retained within the roller block by one or more roller retaining members.
