View page
US Patent:
7337660, Mar 4, 2008
Filed:
May 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/844725
Inventors:
Emad B. Ibrahim - Houston TX, US
Louis W. Elrod - Houston TX, US
Christopher M. Jones - Missouri City TX, US
Sara Shayegi - Houston TX, US
Timothy O. Wiemers - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 47/08
E21B 47/00
E21B 43/24
US Classification:
7315255
Abstract:
A method for analyzing reservoir fluids in connection with a drilling operation includes determining composition and isotopes of injection fluids injected into a wellbore during a drilling operation and production fluids recovered from the wellbore during the drilling operation. Reservoir fluids from a reservoir intersected by the wellbore are characterized based on the composition and isotopes of the injection fluid and of the production fluid.

US Patent:
7571644, Aug 11, 2009
Filed:
Dec 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/960572
Inventors:
Emad B. Ibrahim - Houston TX, US
Louis W. Elrod - Houston TX, US
Christopher M. Jones - Missouri City TX, US
Sara Shayegi - Houston TX, US
Timothy O. Wiemers - Houston TX, US
Assignee:

International Classification:
E21B 47/08
E21B 43/24
US Classification:
7315255, 7315239, 166257
Abstract:
A system for analyzing reservoir fluids in connection with a drilling operation includes an injection system for providing geochemical analysis of injected drilling fluids; a production system for providing geochemical analysis of produced drilling fluids; a cuttings system for providing geochemical analysis fluid recovered from reservoir cuttings; and a fluid characterization system for characterizing reservoir fluids of a reservoir intersected by the drilling operation based on geochemical analysis from the injection system, the production system, and the cutting system. The fluid characterization system is coupled to the injection system, the production system, and the cutting system.

System For Predicting Changes In A Drilling Event During Wellbore Drilling Prior To The Occurrence Of The Event

View page
US Patent:
7762131, Jul 27, 2010
Filed:
Dec 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/960621
Inventors:
Emad B. Ibrahim - Houston TX, US
Louis W. Elrod - Houston TX, US
Christopher M. Jones - Missouri City TX, US
Sara Shayegi - Houston TX, US
Timothy O. Wiemers - Houston TX, US
Roger L. Schultz - Aubrey TX, US
Craig Godfrey - Dallas TX, US
International Classification:
E21B 47/08
US Classification:
7315255
Abstract:
A system for drilling a wellbore includes a prediction unit operable to predict a change in a drilling event while the wellbore is being drilled and prior to the drilling event change occurring. The prediction unit monitors surface and downhole data and well inflows to predict drilling events. The prediction unit may activate alarms for predefined drilling conditions, such as a kick alarm to provide an early warning of a dangerous influx of formation fluids into the wellbore.

Horizontal Well Fracture Stimulation Methods

View page
US Patent:
58948880, Apr 20, 1999
Filed:
Aug 21, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/915784
Inventors:
Timothy O. Wiemers - Hondo TX
Walter B. Hill - Norman OK
William V. Grieser - Yukon OK
Assignee:
Chesapeake Operating, Inc - Oklahoma City OK
Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. - Duncan OK
International Classification:
E21B 4700
US Classification:
1662501
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improved methods of forming spaced fractures in a subterranean zone penetrated by a horizontal well bore. The methods include the steps of placing an open ended solid liner in the horizontal well bore, pumping a fracturing fluid through the open end of the liner to create fractures in the zone adjacent to the open end, forming perforations in the liner at a selected position spaced from the previously created fractures and pumping a fracturing fluid through the perforations to create additional fractures in the zone.

Pressure Testing Method And Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
20170363525, Dec 21, 2017
Filed:
Dec 21, 2015
Appl. No.:
15/537810
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Laura Tufts MEYER - Sealy TX, US
Timothy Oren WIEMERS - Houston TX, US
Lewis Jackson DUTEL - Cypress TX, US
Assignee:
SHELL OIL COMPANY - Houston TX
International Classification:
G01N 3/12
G01M 3/32
G01M 3/24
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a method for conducting a pressure test on an apparatus. The method may include selecting a maximum test pressure for the pressure test, providing a first volume of liquid in the enclosed space and estimating a volume of gas in the enclosed space. The method may further include calculating a volume of additional liquid necessary to bring the enclosed space to the maximum test pressure, providing the volume of additional liquid in the enclosed space, and observing pressure of the enclosed space.
