Anti-Foaming Compositions

View page
US Patent:
43448585, Aug 17, 1982
Filed:
Mar 23, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/780667
Inventors:
Newton Zucker - Pepper Pike OH
William M. Ellslager - South Euclid OH
Assignee:
Kalcor Coatings Company, Inc. - Willoughby OH
International Classification:
B01D 1904
US Classification:
252358
Abstract:
The settling problem in anti-foaming compositions for aqueous systems such as latex paint, which are based on dispersions of finely divided hydrophobic silica in nonaqueous media such as hydrocarbon liquids, is overcome by emulsifying the anti-foamer in water with the help of hydrophilic bentonite or similar colloidal clay. Surprisingly, the anti-foaming effect of the dispersed silica is increased by a factor of about 100%.

Anti-Sticking Composition For Coating Unvulcanized Rubber

View page
US Patent:
43069940, Dec 22, 1981
Filed:
Mar 27, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/134424
Inventors:
William M. Ellslager - South Euclid OH
Assignee:
Kalcor Coatings Company, Incorporated - Willoughby OH
International Classification:
C09K 3100
US Classification:
252382
Abstract:
A dry composition is described which can be converted to an anti-sticking composition for unvulcanized rubber by dispersion in water, consisting essentially of a film forming clay (bentonite or attapulgite), a surfactant and an additive capable of inactivating calcium and magnesium ions (e. g. polyphosphate); optionally, there may be present a defoamer, and up to equal parts by volume, based on a film forming clay, of a filler to speed drying.

Composition For Use In Manufacture Of Molded Hollow Rubber Articles

View page
US Patent:
40295117, Jun 14, 1977
Filed:
Feb 26, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/661727
Inventors:
Malcolm E. Carson - Cleveland OH
William M. Ellslager - South Euclid OH
Assignee:
Kalcor Coatings Company, Inc. - Willoughby OH
International Classification:
B28B 736
US Classification:
106 3822
Abstract:
A composition is described for coating the inside surfaces of tire carcasses and other hollow rubber articles prior to curing so as to prevent adhesion between the carcass and the pressure bag during the cure stage, comprising a sprayable film formed from an aqueous dispersion containing about 40 to 50% of finely ground mica, a small amount of volatile hydrocarbon, about 4 to 10% of an alkyl acid phosphate and sufficient surfactant to keep the composition from separating.
