US Patent:
7472712, Jan 6, 2009
Filed:
Sep 5, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/656642
Inventors:
Robert H. Ashton - Watervliet MI, US
Joseph K. Sharkey - Niles MI, US
Vincent P. Gurubatham - St. Joseph MI, US
Aaron M. Torberg - Windham ME, US
Assignee:
Whirlpool Corporation - Benton Harbor MI
International Classification:
A47L 15/42
US Classification:
1341041, 134110, 134111
Abstract:
An automatic dishwasher having a wash chamber is provided with a filter for filtering wash liquid circulated in the wash chamber. The filter includes a filter chamber outside the wash chamber. An inlet to and outlet from the filter chamber in a wall of the wash chamber allows wash liquid circulating in the wash chamber to enter the filter chamber and to flow out of the filter chamber through a filter element back into the wash chamber for filtering particulate material from wash liquid circulating in the wash chamber. A drain outlet at the bottom of the filter chamber allows wash liquid and material filtered by the filter to flow to the household drain. Sensors can be provided to detect a clogged or partially clogged filter and initiate a purge cycle to remove wash liquid and material filtered by the filter to the household drain.

US Patent:
20060005863, Jan 12, 2006
Filed:
Jul 6, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/885146
Inventors:
Vincent Gurubatham - St. Joseph MI, US
Joseph Sharkey - Niles MI, US
Aaron Torberg - Windham ME, US
Robert Ashton - Watervliet MI, US
International Classification:
B08B 3/02
US Classification:
13405800D, 134111000, 134104100, 134200000, 134113000, 13405700D
Abstract:
A filter system for dishwasher with a sump having inlets leading to a wash pump and a drain pump in the bottom wall. The filter assembly includes a vertical filter retainer an overlying perforate hood, a multiple porosity filter element carried on the filter retainer and a back wash sprayer rotatably mounted inside the filter retainer with at least one backwash nozzle directed toward the filter assembly. The inlet leading to the wash pump is positioned inside the filter element and the inlet to the drain pump is located outside the filter element. The filter element has openings that vary in size from the top to the bottom of the filter element. The filter element openings can be arranged in bands of different porosity openings including fine, medium and coarse porosity openings. The perforate hood can have coarse porosity openings.

US Patent:
20210368629, Nov 25, 2021
Filed:
Aug 6, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/395977
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
James E. Benedict - Lowell MA, US
Andrew R. Southworth - Lowell MA, US
Thomas V. Sikina - Acton MA, US
Kevin Wilder - Derry NH, US
Matthew Souza - North Easton MA, US
Aaron Michael Torberg - East Waterboro ME, US
International Classification:
H05K 3/10
B21F 11/00
Abstract:
An apparatus for automating the fabrication of a copper vertical launch (CVL) within a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a feed mechanism to feed and extrude copper wire from a spool of copper wire and a wire cutting and gripping mechanism to receive copper wire from the feed mechanism, cut and secure a segment of copper wire, insert the segment of copper wire into a hole formed within the PCB, solder an end of the segment of copper wire to a signal trace of the PCB, and flush cut an opposite end of the segment of the copper wire to a surface of the PCB. The wire cutting and gripping mechanism includes a wire cutter to flush cut the segment of copper wire and an integrated heated gripper device to receive the copper wire from the spool of copper wire and cut and grab a segment from copper wire.
