Engine With Emissions Control Arrangement And Method Of Controlling Engine Emissions

View page
US Patent:
8511065, Aug 20, 2013
Filed:
Apr 13, 2006
Appl. No.:
12/293840
Inventors:
Anthony Greszler - Hagerstown MD, US
Andreas Hinz - Onsala, SE
Assignee:
Mack Trucks, Inc. - Greensboro NC
International Classification:
F02M 25/07
US Classification:
60278, 60274, 60280, 60286
Abstract:
An engine with an emissions control arrangement includes an engine including an intake and an exhaust system, an EGR system comprising a conduit between the exhaust system and the intake and an EGR controller between the exhaust system and the conduit, the EGR controller being adapted to control EGR flow from the exhaust system to the intake, a reduction agent introduction system adapted to introduce a reduction agent into the exhaust system, and a controller arranged to adjust EGR flow and reduction agent introduction as functions of each other.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooling Circuit

View page
US Patent:
20100269800, Oct 28, 2010
Filed:
Jan 3, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/747065
Inventors:
Anthony Greszler - Hagerstown MD, US
Assignee:
MACK TRUCKS, INC. - Greensboro NC
International Classification:
F02M 25/07
US Classification:
12356812
Abstract:
An apparatus for cooling exhaust gas for recirculation in an internal combustion engine includes a separate coolant circuit including an exhaust gas cooler connected to the engine radiator. Circulating coolant outside the engine coolant circuit results in coolant at a lower temperature being delivered to the EGR cooler under most circumstances, and therefore, improved cooling of the exhaust gas.

Tappet Socket Assembly For Rocker Lever Assembly And Method Of Assembling The Same

View page
US Patent:
61386243, Oct 31, 2000
Filed:
Mar 1, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/259944
Inventors:
John G. Wolck - Lakewood NY
Mark B. Hinderleider - Jamestown NY
Steve G. Leiby - Lakewood NY
Anthony D. Greszler - Jamestown NY
Mike S. Hagadorn - Russell PA
Assignee:
Cummins Engine Company, Inc. - Columbus IN
International Classification:
F01L 118
US Classification:
123 9039
Abstract:
A tappet socket assembly for a rocker lever assembly or other lever assembly includes a retainer, a tappet socket, and a ball bearing. The rocker lever is adapted to be rocked about a pivot axis and includes a cylindrical opening or bore which partially receives the ball bearing. The retainer includes a cage provided by a plurality of legs and a cylindrical side wall insert. The side wall is secured within the cylindrical bore and press fitted therein by the ball bearing. The ball bearing exerts radially outward force on the retainer to secure the ball bearing and retainer to the rocker lever. The tappet socket includes a spherical concave recess that closely receives the ball bearing to provide a ball and socket joint and a flat engaging face for transferring the force of the rocker lever to a valve crosshead. The tappet socket is retained in the cage between the legs.
