Torsion Axle Having A Selectively Replaceable Insert Assembly

View page
US Patent:
6447073, Sep 10, 2002
Filed:
May 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/847627
Inventors:
Bernhardt P. Goettker - Valley Center CA, 92082
International Classification:
B60B 3500
US Classification:
301127, 267276
Abstract:
A torsion axle is provided, which includes an axle tube having an interior chamber and an insert assembly positioned within the interior chamber. The insert assembly includes a rigid shaft, a relatively flexible cartridge, and relatively inflexible front and rear bushings. The cartridge has an interior passageway receiving the shaft and the front and rear bushings likewise each have an aperture receiving the shaft. The front bushing is positioned on the shaft in front of the cartridge, while the rear bushing is positioned on the shaft to the rear of the cartridge. The front and rear bushings are dimensioned to fit closely within the interior chamber and are freely rotatable relative to the shaft, while the cartridge is non-rotatable relative to the shaft at the interior passageway. The front and rear bushings provide means for absorbing the vertical load on the insert assembly to the exclusion of the cartridge, while the cartridge provides means for absorbing the torsional load on the insert assembly to the exclusion of the front and rear bushings. The torsion axle also has a selectively removable cap positioned over the front end of the interior chamber, which enables selective removal of the insert assembly from the interior chamber.

Cover Assembly For A Wheel Hub

View page
US Patent:
6983999, Jan 10, 2006
Filed:
Jan 28, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/767898
Inventors:
Bernhardt P. Goettker - Valley Center CA, US
International Classification:
B60B 27/00
US Classification:
3011084, 3011081
Abstract:
A cover assembly is provided for a wheel hub, which includes a coupler and a cap. The coupler has a forward segment with a coupler forward opening and a coupler rearward segment with a coupler rearward opening. The cap has a cap opening, a cap barrel, and a cap end plate. The coupler rearward segment is configured for connection to a wheel hub, while the cap is configured for connection to the coupler forward segment and for selectively removable coverage of the coupler forward opening. The cap barrel has a first threaded surface and the coupler forward segment has a second threaded surface, which are selectively engagable to enable threadable connection of the cap to the coupler forward segment. The coupler rearward segment has a smooth engagement surface capable of press fitting connection to the wheel hub.

Sectional Tongue Assembly For A Trailer

View page
US Patent:
7007967, Mar 7, 2006
Filed:
Jun 2, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/452991
Inventors:
Bernhardt P. Goettker - Valley Center CA, US
International Classification:
B60D 1/155
US Classification:
2804913, 2804792
Abstract:
A trailer tongue assembly has a base section which is engagable with a trailer and an extension section which supports a coupler. The trailer tongue assembly also has an internal hinge positioned between the extension section and the base section. The internal hinge rotationally connects the base section and the extension section and selectively provides the trailer tongue assembly with an extended operational position and a folded storage position. The internal hinge is housed in the trailer tongue assembly and is essentially shielded from view by the trailer tongue assembly when the trailer tongue assembly is in the extended operational position. The trailer tongue assembly also has a greater length in the extended operational position than in the folded storage position.

Swivel Jack Assembly

View page
US Patent:
7270345, Sep 18, 2007
Filed:
Oct 5, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/243936
Inventors:
Bernhardt Goettker - Valley Center CA, US
International Classification:
B60S 11/00
US Classification:
2807631, 254418, 403162, 403164
Abstract:
The assembly incorporates two plates. There are annular protrusions on one plate and a matching annular groove on the other. A central bolt and washer holds the plates in engagement while permitting rotation of one plate relative to the other. The cooperating annular grooves and protrusions transfer loads between plates. Ninety degrees of rotation causes the jack assembly to rotate from the vertical stowed position to the horizontal towed position.

US Patent:
7461856, Dec 9, 2008
Filed:
Jul 19, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/186195
Inventors:
Bernhardt Goettker - Valley Center CA, US
International Classification:
B60D 1/06
US Classification:
280513
Abstract:
A new and improved trailer coupler which is spring loaded, and connected to the hitch ball of a towing vehicle is provided. Moreover, the new and improved trailer coupler has a latch activated from the top of the trailer coupler that is connected to a means for grasping and securing the hitch ball on a tow vehicle such that the trailer coupler does not unhitch from the ball of the tow vehicle. Further, the present invention provides a new and improved trailer coupler having a latch apparatus that facilitates engagement and disengagement of the trailer coupler to the hitch ball of the tow vehicle wherein the latch apparatus has a secondary locking mechanism in the form of a locking pin wherein the locking pin is placed in a position within the latch apparatus wherein the locking pin penetrates an opening within the latch such that the latch apparatus may not be manually or accidentally unlatched without prior removal of the locking pin.
