Swing Adaptable Astragal With Lockable Unitary Flush Bolt Assemblies

View page
US Patent:
6491326, Dec 10, 2002
Filed:
Apr 3, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/541808
Inventors:
Victor T. Massey - Greensboro NC
Brad I. Procton - High Point NC
Assignee:
Endura Products, Inc. - Calfar NC
International Classification:
E05C 104
US Classification:
292162, 292 42, 29234119, 292DIG 21, 292DIG 51
Abstract:
An improved astragal assembly for double door entryways includes an extruded aluminum frame into which upper and lower flush bolt assemblies are slidably disposed. The flush bolt assemblies include a relatively long metal bolt about which is injection overmolded a series of retainer guides, which ride in the frame. Locking mechanisms are also integrally overmolded onto the bolts. The frame and all components of the astragal assembly are symmetrical and reversible so that the assembly is non-handed; that is, it can be adapted to both a right hand swing and a left-hand swing inactive door. A unique strike plate mounting system and bottom-sealing block are provided and the upper end of the assembly includes means for sealing against the stop of a head jamb. Drafts at the upper and lower inside corners of the doors of a double door entryway are thus prevented.

Continuous Handicap Threshold Assembly With Dual Dams And Selectively Positionable Sidelight Cap

View page
US Patent:
62896350, Sep 18, 2001
Filed:
Sep 22, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/401086
Inventors:
Brad I. Procton - High Point NC
Victor T. Massey - Greensboro NC
John E. Staskiewicz - Atlanta GA
Assignee:
Endura Products, Inc. - Colfax NC
International Classification:
E06B 170
US Classification:
49467
Abstract:
A continuous handicap threshold assembly for an entryway has an elongated extruded aluminum body with a threshold portion for extending continuously beneath a closed door and at least one fixed panel such as a sidelight or patio door. An exterior sill extends outwardly and slopes downwardly from said threshold portion and an interior sill extends inwardly from said threshold portion. The threshold portion projects a small distance upwardly from the sills to define exterior and interior dams to prevent water leakage. To accommodate the fixed panel, a plastic sidelight cap is adapted to be selectively positioned along the length of the body covering a section of the threshold portion to underlie and support the fixed panel of the entryway.

Entryway System And Method

US Patent:
60529490, Apr 25, 2000
Filed:
Jul 2, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/346522
Inventors:
Jerome C. Procton - Greensboro NC
Brad I. Procton - High Point NC
Kevin T. MacDonald - Greensboro NC
Victor T. Massey - Greensboro NC
Assignee:
Endura Products, Inc. - Greensboro NC
International Classification:
E06B 170
US Classification:
49506
Abstract:
A building entryway system with a high degree of modularity to accommodate active inswing doors or inactive sidelight panels for use with conventional jambs. Specifically, an extruded aluminum sill is mated with an extruded polymeric receiving unit. The receiving unit defines a unshaped channel which accepts a weather strip or panel cap. Either the weather strip or panel cap is slidably positioned within the channel under the door. Additionally a door sweep attached to the active doors sealingly engages the weather strip to prevent water from entering the building.

Seal For Adjustable Threshold

US Patent:
50018655, Mar 26, 1991
Filed:
Apr 24, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/513564
Inventors:
Brad I. Procton - High Point NC
Assignee:
Endura Products, Inc. - Greensboro NC
International Classification:
E06B 170
US Classification:
49469
Abstract:
A molded seal for a door threshold assembly includes an insert which is T-shaped in cross section and attached to the top edge of the T is a resiliently compressible tube-like follower. The follower is covered by a durable, water impervious skin and the insert is positioned within the base of the threshod assembly and the follower is positioned contiguous to a movable threshold member. The tubular portion of the seal will pivot and roll along the movable member as it is raised or lowered thereby insuring a water tight seal between the movable member and the threshold base.
