Emulating a tag reading environment includes accessing a virtual tag reading system of a virtual environment. The virtual tag reading system includes a virtual antenna operable to detect virtual tags. At least one virtual tag is inserted into the virtual environment. The virtual tag is subjected to a field of the virtual antenna. A response of the virtual tag reading system to the virtual tag is monitored.

A method of wireless communication is provided. The method includes receiving a first request, generating a first compressed request and a first request dictionary based on the first request, and communicating the first compressed request and the first request dictionary via a wireless link toward an application operable to respond to the first request. Processing raw data includes receiving raw data. The raw data includes tag identifiers associated with one or more tags detected during a number of detection events. The tag identifiers are filtered to yield one or more unique tag identifiers. A unique tag identifier corresponds to a tag of the tags. The unique tag identifiers are converted to at least one business object. At least one business rule is applied to the business object to generate a response, and the response is performed.

An attendant communications system may include one or more fixed location call stations and a mobile call station.
