An athletic shoe sole construction having a suspension system designed to resiliently support a foot and deflect downwardly upon foot imposed forces is provided. The athletic shoe includes a plurality of independent supports arrayed about the periphery of the suspension system. The supports, or pillars, may include a ground engaging section and a resilient section intermediate the ground engaging section and the suspension system. The suspension system may include a deflectable grid system, or it may include other resilient deflectable materials. The pillars may be constructed and arranged to deflect independently of an adjacent pillar.

An athletic shoe sole construction having a grid system forming a lattice pattern designed to resiliently support a foot and deflect downwardly upon foot imposed forces is provided. The grid system may be located in the heel portion of the shoe. According to some aspects of the invention, the grid system is constructed from a compressible material. In one embodiment, portions of the grid system may be constructed from a foamed material. The athletic shoe includes a midsole arrayed about the periphery of the grid system and extending downwardly therefrom, such that the grid system can deflect and compress into an opening formed by the midsole. A base structure may be provided below the grid system to limit deflection of the grid system into the opening.

Apparatus for making lithographic plates directly from a copy original which comprises, an enclosure which houses a copyboard, an optical train and a carriage. The carriage moves in a horizontal path beneath a platen carrying a sheet of electrophotographic material. The carriage has a corona device, a slit, a toner device including a bias plate and means for withdrawing excess toner. The copyboard is loaded in a horizontal position, is moved to a vertical position where a light scanning assembly moves over its face in synchronism with movement of the carriage. The pattern on the copyboard is projected horizontally into a pit or optical chamber where it is deviated upward to cooperate with the slit. The platen is a cover of the apparatus, can be opened after imaging and toning, the toned electrophotographic member then being removed for further processing.

Approximately vertical side walls are equally curved inwardly to form a waistlike narrow portion in the elongated body. A substantially flat bottom contact surface curves convexly downward to form a fulcrum at the low point. The fulcrum aligns with the centerlines of both side curves. A major portion of each side curve intersects a major portion of the bottom fulcrum curve to form a curved turning edge, which contacts the snow for its entire length when the snow board is tilted back over the fulcrum and to one side for steering. Protruding above a top flat ride-on surface are a rear foot stop and a double front foot stop for wedging the foot therebetween. Pivotally secured to an axle through the front foot stop a U-shaped handle pivots up for a stand-up balance and steering hand lever and down below the ride-on surface for storage, for a sit-down hand grip or for no-handle stand-up riding. Additional side grips, handle hold-down and safety release binding are optional.
