Displacement Measurement Device

View page
US Patent:
7969146, Jun 28, 2011
Filed:
May 14, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/748159
Inventors:
Rollin C. Christianson - Delafield WI, US
Clyde Bennett Stevens - Columbus OH, US
Assignee:
Parker-Hannifin Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
G01B 7/14
US Classification:
32420724, 3242072
Abstract:
An displacement measurement device and associated method where displacement measurements of a movable member are obtained by an electromagnetic field sensor that need not move relative to the magnet or other electromagnetic field source. The electromagnetic field sensor senses disruptions in the electromagnetic field caused by movement of the movable member to provide an output indicative of the position of the actuator.

Proportional Normally Closed Pilot Pressure Control Valve

View page
US Patent:
20130291964, Nov 7, 2013
Filed:
Apr 11, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/861179
Inventors:
Clyde Bennett Stevens - Buffalo Grove IL, US
Eric Schisler - St. Charles IL, US
International Classification:
G05D 16/10
US Classification:
137489
Abstract:
A proportional pressure control valve includes a cage housing and has an inlet, a relief outlet, and a control outlet. A relief poppet provides a proportional relief to the valve. A sleeve is received in a central bore of the cage housing. The sleeve has a fluid inlet fluidly connected to the inlet of the cage housing and has a fluid outlet fluidly connected to the relief outlet and the control outlet of the cage housing. A control piston is received in a central bore of the sleeve and is axially moveable between first and second positions therein. The control piston is configured to restrict flow through the outlet of the sleeve when the control piston is in the second position, and wherein the control piston is biased towards the first position.

Hydraulic Structure For A Brake System

View page
US Patent:
58950990, Apr 20, 1999
Filed:
Oct 17, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/953561
Inventors:
Friedrich Konrad Diecke - Knoxville TN
Christopher Mark Ward - Sycamore IL
Clyde Bennett Stevens - Columbus OH
Assignee:
Deere & Company - Moline IL
International Classification:
B60T 1374
US Classification:
303 961
Abstract:
A vehicle brake includes a compact module having an inlet port connected to the return-to-sump line of a hydraulic operating system on the vehicle. The module includes a path to a filter mounted on the module for filtering the operating system fluid and a poppet valve for bypassing a clogged filter. Passages in the module direct most of the return line fluid through a poppet valve which develops a source of back pressure substantially lower that system operating pressure in a cavity in the module and returns the fluid to an outlet connected to sump. A portion of the fluid in the cavity is communicated via a charge port in the module to a hydrostatic system to replenish leakage and shuttle flow in the hydrostatic system and to prevent cavitation. The source of back pressure in the module is selectively connected to spring-applied, pressure-released brakes through a four-way solenoid valve housed by the module. To release the brakes, the valve is actuated to direct pressure to one side of each of the brake cylinders.

Method And Apparatus For Determining The Condition Of A Control Element

View page
US Patent:
20140354269, Dec 4, 2014
Filed:
May 27, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/287433
Inventors:
- Cleveland OH, US
Clyde Bennett Stevens - Buffalo Grove IL, US
International Classification:
G01B 7/14
US Classification:
32420716
Abstract:
A circuit () is provided for determining a position of a control element () arranged in proximity to an electro-magnetic field of a solenoid coil () for movement in one direction toward one stopped position relative to the solenoid coil in response to increasing electrical current flow through the solenoid coil and for movement away from the one stopped position relative to the solenoid coil in response to decreasing electrical current flow through the solenoid coil. The circuit includes a first detector circuit () operative to measure first current fluctuations during increasing current flow through the solenoid coil and to determine the occurrence of a pull-in spike based on a comparison of the first current fluctuations and a first prescribed value to identify when the control element reaches the one stopped position. The circuit also includes a second detector circuit () operative to measure second current fluctuations during decreasing current flow through the solenoid coil and to determine the occurrence of another condition based on a comparison of the second current fluctuations and a second prescribed value to identify when the control element moves away from the one stopped position.
