View page
US Patent:
7673396, Mar 9, 2010
Filed:
Sep 16, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/228178
Inventors:
Dan Terlizzi - Totowa NJ, US
Paul Terlizzi - Totowa NJ, US
Laura M. Jacobs - New York NY, US
Assignee:
Ballet Makers, Inc. - Totowa NJ
International Classification:
A43B 5/12
US Classification:
36 83, 36 9 R
Abstract:
A protective foot cover for use in dance, exercise, or athletic applications using strategically placed thicker protective pieces in ball and toe areas of the foot in connection with an elastic material in the sole structure to allow the foot to move freely and provide less of a barrier between the foot and floor such that a dancer can better sense the floor upon which they dance. The foot cover incorporates strategically placed protective patches that provide support, protection, and comfort to the ball and toe portions of the foot. The patches are spaced from one another so that the footwear is able to move more naturally with the expansion of the foot as pressure is applied to the foot. The foot cover may be used alone, whereby the toe and heel portions of the foot are exposed, or in combination with a dance shoe providing a stretchable sole running from the arch portion to the toe portion of the foot.

US Patent:
20050138839, Jun 30, 2005
Filed:
Dec 29, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/748987
Inventors:
Paul Terlizzi - Totowa NJ, US
Dan Terlizzi - Totowa NJ, US
International Classification:
A43B005/12
US Classification:
036008300
Abstract:
A dance shoe adapted for urging a foot into an arch shape includes a shoe upper and a sole attached to the shoe upper, the sole having a heel region, a toe region and an arch extending between the heel region and the toe region. The heel of the shoe defines a horizontally extending ground plane, and the arch is sufficiently curved so that the toe region is projected downwardly below the horizontally extending ground plane. When a dancer's foot is inserted into the dance shoe, the shoe upper and the sole cooperate for urging the dancer's foot to move into a point position.

US Patent:
20060196079, Sep 7, 2006
Filed:
Sep 16, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/228179
Inventors:
Dan Terlizzi - Totowa NJ, US
Paul Terlizzi - Totowa NJ, US
Assignee:
Ballet Makers, Inc. - Totowa NJ
International Classification:
A43B 5/12
US Classification:
036008300
Abstract:
A shoe includes a shoe upper made of flexible material, the shoe upper including a toe region, a heel region, a foot opening at the heel region, and an arch region extending between the toe region and the heel region. A split sole is secured to a bottom of the shoe upper, the split sole including a front sole under the toe region of the shoe upper and a rear sole under the heel region of the shoe upper, the front and rear soles being spaced from one another for defining a gap between the front and rear soles that extends along the bottom of the shoe upper. The dance shoe also includes an elastic material attached to the bottom of the shoe upper and covering the gap between the front and rear soles, whereby the elastic material covers an underside of the dance shoe, and at least one support band attached to the shoe upper and being connected with the elastic material for supporting the elastic material and for minimizing wrinkling, puckering, pinching and sagging of the elastic material in the arch region of the shoe upper.

Laura Jacobs - New York NY, US
Assignee:
Ballet Makers, Inc. - Totowa NJ
International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:

The patches are spaced from one another so that the footwear is able to move more naturally with the expansion of the foot as pressure is applied to the foot. An elastic band extends in a figure eight configuration from the front of the cover, beneath the arch of the foot where the band overlaps, and around the heel to provide arch support and to hold the cover on the foot.
