Fence Assembly For A Router Table

View page
US Patent:
6481477, Nov 19, 2002
Filed:
Jan 3, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/037494
Inventors:
Donald M. Szymanski - Prospect KY
Leroy R. Leet - Shelbyville KY
Gregory A. Phillips - LaGrange KY
W. Miles Hale - Louisville KY
Assignee:
Credo Tool Company - Woodburn OR
International Classification:
B27B 3100
US Classification:
144371, 834687, 1441352, 1442532, 1442861, 269303, 269315
Abstract:
A fence assembly for use with a router table, with the fence assembly including a first lower rail, a second lower rail and an upper rail. The first lower rail is configured and arranged to be positioned above the router table, where the first lower rail defines a lower longitudinal axis along the length thereof. The second lower rail is configured and arranged to be positioned above the router table along the lower longitudinal axis. The upper rail is configured and arranged to be attached to the router table above both the first lower rail and the second lower rail, whereby the upper rail defines an upper longitudinal axis that is substantially parallel to the lower longitudinal axis. One important feature of the present invention is that at least one of the first lower rail and the second lower rail is configured and arranged to be moved between a normal position, in which the front sides of said first and second lower rails are substantially flush with each other, and a shifted position, in which the front side of the first and second lower rails are slightly offset from each other. Such a shifted position allows the router to be used as an edge jointer.

Adjustable Workbench Having Quick Action Clamps

View page
US Patent:
61130885, Sep 5, 2000
Filed:
Nov 6, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/187338
Inventors:
Ved P. Gakhar - Louisville KY
W. Miles Hale - Louisville KY
Donald M. Szymanski - Louisville KY
Assignee:
Vermont American Corporation - Louisville KY
International Classification:
B25B 102
US Classification:
269139
Abstract:
In order to enable quick and easy clamping of a work piece or device to the top of a work bench, the work bench is formed with a plurality of keyhole-like slots which are adapted to receive a threaded shaft and stopper arrangement which extends down from each of a plurality of rocker arm-like clamp members. Each of these clamps is such that a stopper which is provided on the bottom of the threaded shafts, is wider than the width of the slot. Rocker arms, which are connected to the upper ends of the threaded shaft, are each provided with a vertically extending bore through which a threaded shaft extends, and an intersecting lateral bore in which a follower nut which cooperates with the threaded shaft, is received. The lateral bore is formed toward one end of the rocker arm that is adapted to have engagement fingers or members at each end. The follower nuts are each formed with a thread only on one side of the bore through which the threaded shaft is disposed and are each arranged to laterally displaceable so that temporary disengagement between the threads can be achieved to allow for quick setting of the clamps.

Safety Power Switch

US Patent:
57553190, May 26, 1998
Filed:
Sep 3, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/708240
Inventors:
Donald M. Szymanski - Prospect KY
Gregory A. Phillips - LaGrange KY
L. R. Leet - Shelbyville KY
Assignee:
Credo Tool Company - Woodburn OR
International Classification:
H01R 1370
US Classification:
200 4302
Abstract:
A power outlet strip having at least one receptacle; a member for receiving power from a power source; a switch coupled between the receptacle and the member for receiving power, which operates to control power transfer to the receptacle; a sliding member; and a safety key for controlling the position of the sliding member. When the safety key is engaged in the outlet strip, it positions the sliding member such that the switch is accessible and operable by an operator. When the safety key is removed from the outlet strip, is positions the sliding member such that the switch is inoperable by the operator. The outlet strip also includes a switch cover for covering the switch. The switch cover has at least one leaf spring and an actuating member. The actuating member is operative for toggling the switch to an OFF position when the switch cover is depressed. The leaf spring is operative for maintaining the actuating member above the switch when no pressure is applied to the switch cover.

Apparatus For Cutting Interlocking Joints

View page
US Patent:
54233577, Jun 13, 1995
Filed:
Jun 7, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/255000
Inventors:
Donald Szymanski - Prospect KY
Assignee:
Vermont American Corp. - Louisville KY
International Classification:
B27C 500
US Classification:
1441445GT
Abstract:
An apparatus for supporting and guiding a router in cutting work-pieces to form an interlocking joint comprises a base support member to which two work-pieces are mounted, at least one being in a horizontal plane. A template is also mounted to the base support member above the horizontal positioned work piece. The template is adjustably connectable to the base support member and vertical and horizontal work-piece clamping assemblies are provided with a movable clamping device so that clamping pressure is applied adjacent to each work-piece in holding the work-pieces on the base support member for cutting.

Hole Saw

View page
US Patent:
58036776, Sep 8, 1998
Filed:
Aug 9, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/738758
Inventors:
David T. Brutscher - Louisville KY
Donald M. Szymanski - Prospect KY
Assignee:
Credo Tool Company - Woodburn OR
International Classification:
B23B 5104
US Classification:
408204
Abstract:
A hole saw comprises a cup with two cutting teeth positioned on the open end of the cup. The two cutting teeth are substantially diametrically opposed to one another to provide a balanced cutting engagement of the media and are spaced apart by a chord length of between about 45 to about 180 degrees. A pair of secondary gullets are positioned in the cup proximate to a forward cutting edge of the two cutting teeth. The secondary gullets have a predetermined depth and shape along a longitudinal axis of the cup to suitably remove debris from the cup during a portion of the duration of the hole cut. A plurality of raker teeth may be positioned on the chords defining the spacing between the cutting teeth. The raker teeth are disposed below the cutting teeth, approximately 0. 030 inches to engage and move cutting debris formed by the cutting teeth.
