Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the field of bacteriology. More particularly, the present invention provides methods and compositions for increasing the effectiveness of existing antibacterial agents and methods of overcoming bacterial resistance. Specifically, the invention provides methods of enhancing the action of an antibacterial agent by use of an antibiotic potentiator. Compositions of antibiotic potentiators including an acyl hydrazide, an oxy amide, and an 8-hydroxy quinoline also are disclosed.
