Abstract:
A remote memory preference system for a passenger vehicle is disclosed. The remote memory preference system utilizes existing passive or active remote entry devices. Memory preference settings include drivers seat position, mirror positions and radio station presets. Once these settings are adjusted by a primary vehicle user, they are stored in a memory location in the vehicle either automatically or when a memory button on the remote entry device is depressed by the user. Settings may then be later recalled either automatically by activating the remote entry device or when a recall button on the remote entry device is depressed by the user. The system may also employ a shift register system, which would automatically store current and previous memory preference settings.

A tire differentiating system ( ) is employed to differentiate tires ( ) in a vehicle ( ). Each tire includes a sensor ( ) which communicates with a receiver ( ). In a first example, when a tire ( ) is inflated above a high pressure threshold, a flag bit is stored in the sensor ( ) identifying the tire as a rear tire ( ). If a rear tire ( ) drops below a low pressure threshold, a warning algorithm is initiated to warn the driver. Abstract:
An improved immobilizer system for a vehicle utilizes the immobilizer key to provide a signal to the immobilizer control that is utilized to control a vehicle function in addition to the immobilizer. In one embodiment the additional function is the detection of a key in the ignition. Thus, should a vehicle door open, or some other change in status occur, the control determines whether the key is still in the ignition. If so, a warning signal is sent. Other uses of determining whether a key is still in the ignition will also come within the scope of this embodiment. In a second feature, the identification code on the key is utilized to provide an indication of a particular user such that a memory position can be recalled based upon the particular user.

Abstract:
A vehicle security system includes a vehicle anti-theft controller in communication with an identification system and a power distribution system. The power distributing system limits power to the ignition system starter motor. The power distribution system supplies power at various levels in response to commands by the vehicle anti-theft controller. In an unarmed state, the starter motor is operable when the power distribution system provides a first power level thereto. In an armed state, a second power level, which is typically much lower than the first, is adequate to operate the identification system and vehicle accessory systems but not the starter motor.

Abstract:
A passive keyless entry system is specifically adapted for use with automotive vehicles. The system includes a portable beacon that is carried by a vehicle operator, a receiver/controller located in the vehicle, and an antenna connected to the receiver/controller for receiving an encoded transmission from the beacon. The system is designed to automatically unlock the vehicle as the operator approaches the vehicle. The system is further designed to automatically lock the vehicle as the operator, carrying the beacon, moves away from the vehicle. The beacon includes a motion sensor to conserve battery life when the beacon is stationary. Transmission between the beacon and the receiver/controller is characterized by a magnetically coupled radio frequency signal embodying differential phase encoded data with error correction coding of the data to enhance noise immunity and signal discrimination. In addition, the transmitted signal between the beacon and the receiver is continually changing in order to deter theft. A clock in the receiver/controller is automatically reset to a clock code of the encoded transmission if the transmitted signal is valid.

An apparatus, system and method for checking brake operation suitable to be executed by a single person is disclosed. A trigger is received from a trigger device. In response to the trigger, it is determined whether the vehicle is in motion. If the vehicle is determined to be substantially not in motion entering the test mode. In the test mode, sending a waveform to a brake actuator and causing the brake actuator to generate a sound audible to the person performing the test if a brake circuit is operational.
