View page
US Patent:
8594977, Nov 26, 2013
Filed:
Jun 4, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/478071
Inventors:
Jason Laberge - New Brighton MN, US
Peter Bullemer - Independence MN, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06F 15/00
US Classification:
702184, 707200, 707803, 340507
Abstract:
A method and system for identifying systemic failures and a root cause of incidents in a work environment. Failures, causes, and impacts related to a sample of incidents can be investigated in order to identify one or more systemic failures and root causes of the systemic failure(s). The incident details can be utilized to identify one or more root cause manifestation for each root cause of the systemic failure(s). The gaps in an existing system can be analyzed and one or more improvement solutions based on corrective actions can be identified. The improvement solutions with a highest priority can be selected and implemented to address the gaps identified in the current system based on the analysis of systemic failures and root causes. The effectiveness of the improvement solutions can be tracked and monitored to prevent the recurrence of future incidents.

Competitive Usability Assessment System

View page
US Patent:
20060287911, Dec 21, 2006
Filed:
Jun 21, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/160372
Inventors:
Jason Laberge - Lauderdale MN, US
John Hajdukiewicz - Minneapolis MN, US
Yong Kow - Minneapolis MN, US
Assignee:
HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06F 11/34
US Classification:
705011000
Abstract:
An assessment system utilizing usability engineering and six sigma. An assessment may involve task analysis incorporating process maps or the like. This analysis may be extended into a development of user interface (UI) maps. Information about customer needs may be obtained from a voice of the customer (VOC). This information may be used in a failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) table. Usability engineering may be used to analyze usability data. Results may include usability problems and positive features enterable into the FMEA table. Usability profiles may be drawn from information and ratings in the FMEA table. A quality function deployment (QFD) may be used to prioritize usability findings with reference to the FMEA table. There may be a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis. Affinity diagrams, used to categorize information from usability profiles, the QFD, the SWOT and the FMEA table, may provide design direction for successor applications.

Filed:
May 22, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/751923
Inventors:
Jason C. Laberge - New Brighton MN, US
Sinem C. Goknur - Minneapolis MN, US
Jakub Andrzejewski - Minneapolis MN, US
Assignee:
HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
F24F 7/00
G05D 23/00
US Classification:
236 94
Abstract:
A temperature controller for controlling the temperature of an inside space that is serviced by one or more pieces of HVAC equipment. The temperature controller may include a controller having a control algorithm for controlling one or more pieces of HVAC equipment as well as a user interface that may be configured to display a hierarchical menu structure and to permit a user to traverse the menu structure. The user interface may be configured to display breadcrumbs that provide an indication to the user of the current location within a hierarchical menu structure, and in some cases, provide instructional information in a designated or common display area that helps instruct the user in using a particular menu or menu option. These and other features may help make the special purpose controller more intuitive to set up, program and operate.

US Patent:
20100100829, Apr 22, 2010
Filed:
Oct 16, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/252673
Inventors:
Jason Laberge - New Brighton MN, US
Ankur Jhawar - Bangalore, IN

Abstract:
The invention is a system for selecting and previewing a configuration for a wall module before a download of the configuration to the wall module. The configuration may be selected from a set of standard applications or it may be a customized standard application. The configuration may instead be a new application. The configuration may be changed, such as screen segment selection, during a preview of it. A memory usage meter may indicate how much memory is used relative to the amount available in the wall module for the configuration. Also the system may have an autobind to a controller feature for time parameters. New application or customized standard application configurations may be saved to a library for future use.
