Melt Molding Polymer Composite And Method Of Making And Using The Same

View page
US Patent:
8487034, Jul 16, 2013
Filed:
Jan 16, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/355203
Inventors:
Kurt Emil Heikkila - Marine on St. Croix MN, US
John S. Kroll - Blaine MN, US
Rodney K. Williams - Stacy MN, US
Assignee:
Tundra Composites, LLC - White Bear Lake MN
International Classification:
B28B 1/00
C08K 3/10
C08K 3/36
C08K 3/40
US Classification:
524494, 264299, 524492, 524493
Abstract:
The invention relates to a hot melt dispensable polymeric composite and process for making and using the composite. Particulates of adequate particle size are mixed with a polymer that exhibits low viscosities at temperatures typically provided by hot-melt glue guns to form rods that vary significantly in density from the base polymer. Novel articles can be manufactured by dispensing the composite from a glue gun into molds or by placement of the melt molding compound into preformed cavities within an end article.

Retroreflective Composite Reflective Microspheres And Reflective Inorganic Material

View page
US Patent:
20220221628, Jul 14, 2022
Filed:
Oct 11, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/498533
Inventors:
- White Bear Lake MN, US
Kurt Heikkila - Marine on the St. Croix MN, US
John Kroll - Blaine MN, US
Assignee:
Tundra Composites, LLC - White Bear Lake MN
International Classification:
G02B 5/128
C03C 12/02
C03C 25/46
Abstract:
A robust sintered retroreflective composite comprising, a core bead, a peripheral bead, and an interphase coating. The bead can be used in typical retroreflective indicia and uses.

Polymer Compatible Heat Fused Retroreflective Bead

View page
US Patent:
20210382211, Dec 9, 2021
Filed:
Nov 25, 2019
Appl. No.:
17/288083
Inventors:
John Kroll - Blaine MN, US
Assignee:
Tundra Composites, LLC - White Bear Lake MN
International Classification:
G02B 5/13
E01F 9/524
Abstract:
A polymer compatible retroreflective bead. The bead can be used in typical retroreflective uses such as paints tapes and films in highway marking and signs having high retroreflectivity both when initially installed and over the bead lifetime, allowing vehicle drivers to see highway marking lines at night and in adverse conditions during nighttime. When installed the retroreflective beads essentially retroreflect the base color of the highway marking material in which the retroreflective beads are embedded.
