Providing A User Driven, Event Triggered Advertisement

View page
US Patent:
20090144124, Jun 4, 2009
Filed:
Nov 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/948739
Inventors:
ARUNGUNRAM C. SURENDRAN - SAMMAMISH WA, US
LEE-MING ZEN - SEATTLE WA, US
HRISHIKESH M. BAL - BELLEVUE WA, US
TAREK NAJM - KIRKLAND WA, US
KEVIN RIEDY - SEATTLE WA, US
Assignee:
MICROSOFT CORPORATION - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06Q 30/00
US Classification:
705 10, 705 14
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for adding an advertisement to a web page by associating advertisements with one or more visual objects e.g., text and/or pictures. Embodiments of the present invention include a method for selecting visual objects and associating the visual object with an advertisement after the web page has been displayed to the user. The visual object may be selected in part based on the user's interactions with the web page. An additional embodiment of the present invention displays the associated advertisement after a user clicks on or hovers over the selected visual object.

Applying Image-Based Contextual Advertisements To Images

View page
US Patent:
20090148045, Jun 11, 2009
Filed:
Dec 7, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/952290
Inventors:
PHILIP LEE - BELLEVUE WA, US
HENG ZHANG - BELLEVUE WA, US
LEE-MING ZEN - SEATTLE WA, US
Assignee:
MICROSOFT CORPORATION - REDMOND WA
International Classification:
G06K 9/46
US Classification:
382190
Abstract:
Systems, methods, computer-readable media, and graphical user interfaces for applying image-based contextual advertisements to images are provided. An image analyzing module and advertisement analyzing module analyze images and advertisements to identify image attributes and advertisement attributes. Upon identifying image attributes and advertisement attributes, advertisements deemed contextually relevant to an image are determined. In some embodiments, the contextually relevant advertisements are ranked. Thereafter, one or more contextually relevant advertisements are associated with the image. The one or more contextually relevant advertisements are presented based on preferences and/or features.

Adaptive Resolution Of Domain Name Requests In Virtual Private Cloud Network Environments

View page
US Patent:
20180351904, Dec 6, 2018
Filed:
Jul 23, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/042584
Inventors:
- Seattle WA, US
Lee-Ming Zen - Seattle WA, US
Gavin Derek McCullagh - Cork, IE
Yohanes Santoso - Sterling VA, US
Vadim Meleshuk - Seattle WA, US
Yu Gu - Bellevue WA, US
Minli Lai - Bellevue WA, US
Rebecca Claire Weiss - Vienna VA, US
Yi Cheng Chen - Seattle WA, US
Ronald Andrew Hoskinson - Oak Hill WA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/12
H04L 12/931
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described to enable adaptive handling of domain resolution requests originating from a virtual private cloud (VPC) networking environment. An administrator of the VPC can provide a set of rules specific to the VPC that designates how requests for a domain name should be handled. The rules may specify, for example, that a request for a given domain name should be routed to a particular domain name server, which may include a private domain name server, should be dropped, or should be routed according to a default behavior (e.g., a public domain name system). Resolution requests originating in the VPC can be associated with a VPC identifier. When an adaptive resolution system receives the request, it can retrieve rules associated with the VPC identifier, and apply the rules to determine further routing for the request.

External Health Checking Of Virtual Private Cloud Network Environments

View page
US Patent:
20180287916, Oct 4, 2018
Filed:
May 31, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/994631
Inventors:
- Seattle WA, US
Lee-Ming Zen - Seattle WA, US
Pavlo Kaplin - Seattle WA, US
Yu Gu - Bellevue WA, US
Minli Lai - Bellevue WA, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/26
H04L 12/46
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described to enable health checking of computing devices within a virtual private cloud (VPC) networking environment, without requiring that the devices be accessible via a public network address. An endpoint is placed within the VPC, which enables interaction with an external health checking system via a substrate network. The endpoint handles communications between the heath checking system and the VPC, and can modify data originating from the health checking system such that it appears to originate from the endpoint. From the viewpoint of the VPC, the endpoint itself may appear to be conducting health checking. Thus, external health checking can be used on a VPC without compromising the security of the VPC by requiring that a portion of the VPC be externally addressable.
