View page
US Patent:
62983768, Oct 2, 2001
Filed:
Mar 7, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/813258
Inventors:
Lisa E. Rosner - East Windsor CT
Karanam Rajaiah - Bristol CT
Karl D. Pedersen - Ansonia CT
Joseph Krisciunas - Bristol CT

Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
G06F 1516
G06F 15173
US Classification:
709209
Abstract:
A communication bus containing master and slave devices includes a monitor unit for fault tolerant communications. In the event the master is unable to communicate, the monitor automatically assumes the master communication role. When more than one monitor is connected within the communications network, the monitor with the lowest communications address assumes the master communications role. The master includes software implementation that allows an operator to obtain data from any of the slave devices via the monitor.

Motor Controller And Protector Unit

View page
US Patent:
57605564, Jun 2, 1998
Filed:
Jan 26, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/592191
Inventors:
James Wallace Hamilton - Mebane NC

Assignee:
General Electric Company - New York NY
International Classification:
H02P 100
US Classification:
318438
Abstract:
A motor controller unit of the type providing optimum motor operation and protection is configured to determine phase rotation correction during motor start-up without stopping and re-configuring. The effects of heat on the squirrel cage (amortisseur) and motor field windings are accurately and automatically determined on a continuing basis to deter nuisance trip occurrence during motor start and restart operations and to prevent damage to the motor windings during continuous motor operation, respectively.
