Filed:
May 1, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/136615
Inventors:
Scott Moulthrop - Converse TX, US
Tom Reznick - San Antonio TX, US
Shane Richard - San Antonio TX, US
Lois Barth - San Antonio TX, US
International Classification:
G09B007/00
US Classification:
434/353000
Abstract:
The method for assessing and monitoring a scorer engaged in scoring an answer to an open-ended question includes the step of retrieving from an electronic database a reevaluation record. The reevaluation record includes a student response to an open-ended question and a score awarded thereto by a scorer. The reevaluation record is displayed to a manager, who is then permitted to reevaluate the awarded score. If the awarded score is different from the reevaluated score, the awarded score is replaced with the reevaluated score in the reevaluation record. Then the reevaluation record is stored in the database. The system includes an electronic database having stored thereon a reevaluation record. A processor is in signal communication with the database, and a display and an input device in signal communication with the processor. Software for carrying out the method steps is resident on the processor.

US Patent:
20040202992, Oct 14, 2004
Filed:
Apr 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/412863
Inventors:

The accuracy of an electronic record containing data from the answer page is thereby improved. The method includes receiving a record containing digital image scan data on an answer page. Next the record is checked for a plurality of types of errors. If one or more errors are found, a predetermined list of automatically correctable errors is consulted. Any found errors that are the list are automatically corrected. If any of the found errors is not on the list, the record is flagged for manual correction.

US Patent:
20040253573, Dec 16, 2004
Filed:
Jun 12, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/459878
Inventors:
Scott Moulthrop - Converse TX, US
Tom Reznick - San Antonio TX, US
Lois Barth - San Antonio TX, US
David Boyd - San Antonio TX, US
Assignee:
The Psychological Corporation - San Antonio TX
International Classification:
G09B003/00
G09B007/00
US Classification:
434/353000, 434/323000, 434/362000
Abstract:
A method for improving a scoring process includes displaying an original scanned image of a hard copy page of an answer to a scorer. If the scorer determines that the image is of insufficient quality to read, an electronic request for an improved image is received from the scorer and routed electronically to an archive containing the hard copy page, from which the page is retrieved. The retrieved page is rescanned to form a new image, which is then electronically transmitted to the scorer for scoring. A system includes hardware and software elements, including a processor and a database accessible by the processor containing original scanned images of answer pages. A scorer display and an input device are located at a scoring site, and an archive display and a scanner at an archive site. Software as described above is resident on the processor for implementing the method steps.
