View page
US Patent:
6481457, Nov 19, 2002
Filed:
Jan 3, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/754693
Inventors:
Glenn P. Hayes - Hurst TX
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX
Timothy Andrew Gauss - Kingwood TX
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F16L 1304
US Classification:
137377, 285117, 24115 K, 241226, 24135 R, 24335
Abstract:
A high pressure flow line that is formed from sections of pipe that are coupled together is provided with a safety restraint assembly. The safety restraint assembly is formed by wrapping short, flexible rib tethers around the pipeline near the ends of each section of pipe. A plurality of long tethers are linked end-to-end to form a continuous spine, which is threaded through all of the rib tethers. Each of the tethers contains continuous filaments. The spine is then anchored at each of its terminal ends to suitable anchoring structures. Alternatively, the safety restraint assembly may utilize anchor elements in addition to the tethers.

Enhanced Durability Hammer Union

US Patent:
6945569, Sep 20, 2005
Filed:
Apr 28, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/833859
Inventors:
Juan M. Diaz - Plano TX, US
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX, US
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F16L035/00
US Classification:
285388, 285354, 2853345
Abstract:
A union for connecting two tubular members. The first tubular member has an external flange, and the second tubular member has a set of external threads. An annular nut surrounds the first tubular member. The nut has an internal flange that surrounds the first tubular member, and a set of threads to engage the threads of the second tubular member. Arcuate segments are circumferentially mated between the internal flange of the nut and the external flange of the first tubular member. A flat conical surface on the inner side of the segment comes into contact with a flat conical surface on the outer side of the external flange. Curved conical surfaces tangentially align with and extend from the flat conical surfaces on the segment and the external flange. Cylindrical surfaces tangentially align and join the curved conical surfaces on the segment and the tubular member.

Emergency Pressure Relief Valve With Enhanced Reset

View page
US Patent:
6978799, Dec 27, 2005
Filed:
Oct 22, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/690888
Inventors:
Vladimir Kugelev - Arlington TX, US
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX, US
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F16K017/02
F16K031/122
F16K021/10
US Classification:
1375147, 137528, 137906, 251 54
Abstract:
A pressure relief valve has a housing fluidly connected to a pressurized system line carrying a system fluid. The housing carries a moveable piston and a valve member that both move between closed and open positions. The piston defines an upper chamber and a lower chamber within the housing. A pressurized fluid is supplied to the upper chamber to bias the piston toward the closed position. After the relief valve opens from excessive system pressure, the pressurized fluid is injected into the lower chamber to delay the return of the piston to the closed position. Initially, the fluid in the lower chamber flows through a check valve while the piston returns to the closed position. Then the fluid vent in the lower chamber vents from the lower chamber as the piston and valve member approach the closed position.

Pressure Testing Apparatus

US Patent:
7096718, Aug 29, 2006
Filed:
Jan 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/755456
Inventors:
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX, US
J. Allen Sutton - Weatherford TX, US
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
G01M 3/02
US Classification:
73 37
Abstract:
A portable test compartment allows for on-site pressure testing of a workpiece at the site where the workpiece is utilized, instead of having to haul the workpiece to an off-site testing location. A test vehicle carries the elongated test compartment, and travels to the on-site location to test the workpiece. The vehicle has a lift assembly that pivotally connects the vehicle and the compartment. The lift assembly moves the compartment from a storage position alongside the vehicle to an operational position alongside the ground. The compartment has an interior portion that receives the workpiece. Inside the compartment, a safety blanket is fastened to the bottom of the compartment. The safety blanket envelops the workpiece by folding several portions of the blanket around the workpiece.

Flowline Clamp Connector

US Patent:
7204525, Apr 17, 2007
Filed:
Dec 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/013486
Inventors:
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX, US
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F16L 17/00
US Classification:
285367, 285917, 277609
Abstract:
A flowline connection assembly connects first and second tubular members to each other. Each tubular member has an external flange on its end. A conical recess is formed in the bore at the end of each of the tubular members. A metal ring has a pair of legs extending in opposite axial directions, each of the legs having a conical outer surface that engages one of the conical recesses. Each ring has an elastomeric seal that seals the recess. A clamp has cam surfaces that engage the flanges and pull the tubular members axially toward each other.

Coolant System For Piston And Liner Of Reciprocating Pumps

View page
US Patent:
7219594, May 22, 2007
Filed:
Jun 7, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/862216
Inventors:
Vladimir Kugelev - Arlington TX, US
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX, US
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F01B 31/08
US Classification:
92144, 92165 R
Abstract:
A reciprocating pump assembly includes piston rod that is movable and reciprocates in order to pump a fluid. The piston rod has a piston portion at an end that stokes within a piston chamber. The pump assembly also includes a piston rod sleeve that houses the piston rod. The piston rod sleeve does not reciprocate with the piston rod. Thus, the piston rod sleeve remains stationary. The piston rod sleeve defines and annulus between the piston rod and the piston rod sleeve. The pump assembly has a fluid line that leads into the annulus. The fluid line delivers coolant to the annulus. The pump assembly also includes a flow passage. The flow passage has an inlet in fluid communication with the annulus for receiving the coolant. The passage also has an outlet in fluid communication with the piston chamber for delivering the coolant.

System, Method, And Apparatus For Valve Stop Assembly In A Reciprocating Pump

View page
US Patent:
7364412, Apr 29, 2008
Filed:
Aug 6, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/913221
Inventors:
Vladimir Kugelev - Arlington TX, US
Mark D. Matzner - Burleson TX, US
Assignee:
S.P.M. Flow Control, Inc. - Fort Worth TX
International Classification:
F04B 39/10
US Classification:
417454, 417568, 417571
Abstract:
A reciprocating pump assembly has a pump housing with a crankshaft. A plunger is connected to the crankshaft for pumping a fluid through a cylinder. The cylinder has a fluid inlet port and an opening that provides access to the cylinder. A suction cover is mounted in the opening and has a hub that is coaxial with an axis of the suction cover. A suction valve stop is mounted adjacent one of the fluid ports and has a spring retainer. A column extends from the spring retainer, and a bushing is mounted to the spring retainer for engaging and being retained by the hub of the suction cover. The suction cover guides the suction valve stop in operation and, when the suction cover is removed from the opening, the suction valve stop is removable.
