Compression-Limited Gasket Construction

View page
US Patent:
20090261532, Oct 22, 2009
Filed:
Apr 17, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/425553
Inventors:
Mason D. Morehead - Spartanburg SC, US
International Classification:
F16J 15/02
US Classification:
277639
Abstract:
Sealing gasket construction for providing a fluid seal intermediate a pair of opposed, mating parts or structures. The gasket includes a body formed of a resilient material, and one or more integral compression limiters each received in a corresponding aperture formed through the body. Each of the limiters is formed of a rigid material and extends through the body from a first flanged portion to a second flanged portion with the body being clamping therebetween.

Chamber Seal For A Power Cell

View page
US Patent:
20190067653, Feb 28, 2019
Filed:
Aug 1, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/051700
Inventors:
- Cleveland OH, US
Mason D. Morehead - Signal Mountain TN, US
International Classification:
H01M 2/08
H01M 2/04
H01M 8/0273
H01M 8/0276
H01M 8/028
Abstract:
An annular seal assembly, to seal a chamber of a power cell, includes opposed mating members, a separation plate covering an opening of one of the mating members, and an annular seal for sealing about the separation plate and between the separation plate and each of the adjacent mating members. An exemplary annular seal includes a seal body that is disposed about a longitudinal axis and is configured to receive an outer perimeter edge of the separation plate into a slit of the seal body. The seal in an uncompressed state isolated from the separation plate and the mating members includes opposed axial faces of the slit being biased towards one another. The seal includes bulbous sealing projections disposed at opposite axial sides of the slit that are compressible to seal between the separation plate and the mating members.

Ruggedized Radio Frequency Identification Tags

US Patent:
20190034778, Jan 31, 2019
Filed:
Jan 20, 2017
Appl. No.:
16/072551
Inventors:
- Cleveland OH, US
Mason Morehead - Signal Mountain TN, US
James Upshur - Moore SC, US
Assignee:
Parker-Hannifin Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
G06K 19/077
G06K 19/02
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag assembly () includes: forming an elastomeric body () made of an elastomeric material; providing an RFID tag (); forming a patch () made of an elastomeric material; locating the RFID tag on a surface of the elastomeric body; overlaying the patch onto the RFID tag to cover the RFID tag with the patch; and bonding the patch to the elastomeric body, wherein the RFID tag is embedded within elastomeric material encompassed by the elastomeric body and the patch that overlays the RFID tag. The patch may be formed by die cutting the patch from the same elastomeric material component that is used to form the elastomeric body. The patch alternatively is formed separately from the elastomeric body from a dedicated source of elastomeric material, or formed by overlapping and bonding two ends of the elastomeric body to overlay the RFID tag embedded between the two ends.

Packer With Anti-Extrusion Backup System

View page
US Patent:
20150204159, Jul 23, 2015
Filed:
Jan 21, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/601643
Inventors:
- Cleveland OH, US
Mason Morehead - Spartanburg SC, US
International Classification:
E21B 33/12
E21B 33/127
Abstract:
A well bore packer includes a packer element and an anti-extrusion backup system disposed on a mandrel and located within a well bore wall. Packer element includes longitudinally spaced end regions and a central region. The backup system includes an anti-extrusion device adjacent each of the end regions. The devices each include a collar and a flexible wire mesh mat. The packer element and devices have a smaller diameter configuration before the packer element is expanded. When the packer element is expanded to seal its central region against the well bore wall, the expansion of the packer element activates or deploys the devices and expands the mats to reach between the mandrel and the wall to resist longitudinal extrusion of the packer element.
