Abstract:
According to some aspects, a system is provided comprising at least one computer hardware processor and at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the computer hardware processor, cause the computer hardware processor to perform obtaining an image of a map relating to a geographical area, identifying, using at least one automated image processing technique, a set of angles associated with a set of edges in the image, determining, based on the set of angles, at least one of a measure of angular complexity, a measure of angular entropy, and a measure of griddedness for the image, and indicating an urban form of the geographical area based on at least one of the determined measure of angular complexity, the determined measure of angular entropy, and the determined measure of griddedness of the image.

Abstract:
According to some aspects, a system is provided to perform obtaining point-of-interest data indicating a label and a location for one or more of a plurality of points of interest, determining, using the point-of-interest data, commute times among at least some of the plurality of points of interest, wherein a first commute time between two of the at least some of the plurality of points of interest indicates an estimated time for commuting between the two points of interest for a particular mode of transportation, clustering, using the commute times and labels indicated by the point-of-interest data, the plurality of points of interest into a set of point-of-interest clusters, wherein substantially all points of interest in each cluster have a common label, and determining a set of spatial zones corresponding to the set of point-of-interest clusters by identifying a spatial boundary for each cluster in the set of point-of-interest clusters.

According to some aspects, a system is provided comprising a processor, a storage device coupled to the processor, a memory device coupled to the processor and memory, an interface adapted to receive a plurality of parameter values relating to a plurality of geographical areas, a plurality of components, executable by one or more processors, the components comprising a component adapted to determine, for each of the plurality of geographical areas, a respective profile, the profile including a plurality of data points relating to activity performed within a respective area, a component adapted to determine a respective normalized profile based on each respective profile associated with the plurality of geographical areas, and a component adapted to determine a similarity measure of at least one of the plurality of geographical areas to a reference geographical area.
