Filed:
Jan 14, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/043123
Inventors:
Robert Brandt - Wilmington NC, US
Ray Peterson - Chattanooga TN, US
David Nathan - Minneapolis MN, US
Gregg Martell - Lancaster PA, US
Peter Kashulines - Mountain Lakes NJ, US
Malcolm Austin - Warsaw, PL
Assignee:
MARS, INC.
International Classification:
B05C011/00
US Classification:
118/058000, 118/062000, 118/063000, 118/303000
Abstract:
An apparatus for heating and/or cooling a plurality of particles including a generally circular bed for holding the particles, the bed having a substantially centered annular inner bed wall, an outer bed wall and an irregular bottom. The apparatus also includes a drive mechanism rotatably affixed to said bed, where rotation of the drive mechanism at a predetermined rate produces a displacement of the bed horizontally and vertically resulting in a particle flow in the x, y and z directions. The particle flow in the x and y planes for a majority of said particles is in a dominant direction. The apparatus also includes an airplant which provides a heated and/or cooled airflow tangentially into the bed in a direction opposite to the dominant direction.

US Patent:
20060024411, Feb 2, 2006
Filed:
Jul 28, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/900174
Inventors:
David Pontzer - Sparta NJ, US
Peter Kashulines - Mountain Lakes NJ, US
Bob Crossley - Montclair NJ, US
Thomas Collins - Nazareth PA, US
International Classification:
A23G 3/20
US Classification:
426103000
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a forming apparatus comprising (a) first and second forming rolls with forming pockets in corresponding alignment, wherein at least one roll has one or more continuous grooves extending around the circumference of the roll in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the roll and which intersects the forming pockets in the plane, wherein the first and second forming rolls rotate in directions counter to one another, and (b) one or more forming pins positioned between the counter rotating rolls and within the continuous groove of the roll.

US Patent:
62708260, Aug 7, 2001
Filed:
Dec 13, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/459474
Inventors:
Peter Thomas Kashulines - Mountain Lakes NJ
Emil Anthony Kritzer - Shipman VA
Robert Otto Brandt - Wilmington NC
Aubrey Elmo Jones - Sparta NJ
Malcolm Albert Austin - Warsaw, PL
Ray Louis Peterson - Chattanooga TN
Assignee:
Mars Incorporated - McLean VA
International Classification:
A23P 100
A23G 100
US Classification:
426512
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for making a shaped confectionery product of Bingham plastic rheology by cold extrusion wherein particles of the confectionery product are fed between counter-rotating form rolls having depressions corresponding to the desired product shape. The particles are compacted and compressed between the form rolls and fuse together to exit with a thin web of material interconnecting the shaped confectionery product. The release of the product from the roll surface is aided by induced differential motion between the rolls.
