US Patent:
20040162298, Aug 19, 2004
Filed:
Feb 20, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/370820
Inventors:

Qi Guo - Newtown PA, US
International Classification:
A61K031/522
US Classification:
514/263300
Abstract:
A method of inhibiting HIV infection in a mammal by administering to said mammal in need thereof a small molecule compound having a molecular weight of less than about 1,000 dalton, wherein said compound interacts with HIV-gp120 in such a manner as to cause conformational change in said gp120 thereby preventing interaction between said gp120 and leukocyte CD4.

Detection And Indentification Of Bacteria By Means Of Ultra-Violet Excited Resonance Raman Spectra

View page
US Patent:
48471984, Jul 11, 1989
Filed:
Oct 7, 1987
Appl. No.:
6/916214
Inventors:
Wilfred H. Nelson - Kingston RI
Richard A. Dalterio - Kingston RI
Jay F. Sperry - Peacedale RI
Assignee:
The Board of Governors for Higher Education, State of Rhode Island and
Providence Plantations - Providence RI
International Classification:
C12Q 104
C12N 1300
G01J 344
US Classification:
435 34
Abstract:
A bacterial suspension is contacted by a single vavelength in the ultra-violet range. A portion of the light energy used is absorbed and a portion of the light energy is emitted. The emitted light energy, resonance enhanced Raman scattering, is measured as backscattered energy. The energy is processed to produce spectra which are characteristic of the bacteria.
