US Patent:
6563917, May 13, 2003
Filed:
Oct 16, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/977697
Inventors:
Richard E. Sabinson - San Antonio TX
Gregory Steven Fosburgh - San Ramon CA
Mark Tamasi - St. Louis MO
Brenda S. Thompson - Plano TX
Assignee:
SBC Technology Resources, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
H04M 342
US Classification:
37922108, 37920712, 37921601, 37922109, 37922112
Abstract:
A method, in an advanced intelligent communications system, for routing a call based on the location of the calling party number where a telephone call to an abbreviated destination telephone number is received at a service switching point. The service switching point determines if the abbreviated destination number is a triggering number, and if so, notifies a service control point of receipt of the telephone call. The location of the calling party number is determined from location information related to the service switching point. The appropriate routing of the telephone call is determined based on the location of the calling party number. Call routing information regarding the telephone call is sent to the service switching point where the service switching point routes the telephone call to a destination number or a default announcement.

Abstract:
A system and method include implementing and accessing a subscribers telecommunications services, using a graphical user interface (GUI) via the Internet, and an interactive voice response (IVR) system via the public switched telecommunications network (PSTN). The system and method enable a subscriber to review, schedule and modify call forwarding information stored and implemented by a service control-point (SCP) through a common server from any dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) telephone and IVR system via the PSTN or any GUI and Web client via the Internet. The subscriber is able to build and edit call forwarding data, such as a scheduler and priority and rejection screening lists, by the GUI via the Internet for subsequent implementation.

US Patent:
6724882, Apr 20, 2004
Filed:
Mar 17, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/388635
Inventors:
Richard E. Sabinson - San Antonio TX
Gregory Steven Fosburgh - San Ramon CA
Mark Tamasi - St. Louis MO
Brenda S. Thompson - Plano TX
Assignee:
SBC Technology Resources, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
H04M 342
US Classification:
37922108, 37920712, 37921601, 37922109, 37922112
Abstract:
A communications system is provided for routing calls based on a location of a calling party. The communications system includes a processor that determines routing of a call placed by a calling party using one of a plurality of call origination devices. The call origination devices are operatively connected to a switching device that is operatively connected to the processor. The call is placed to a destination corresponding to a service having a service area. The switching device services calls placed from call origination devices located within the service area and calls placed from call origination devices located outside the service area. The processor determines whether the calling party is within the service area, and the processor instructs the switching device to route the call to the destination based upon the processor determining that the calling party is within the service area. The switching device routes the call to the destination only when the processor determines that the calling party is within the service area.

Apr 7, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/545459
Inventors:
Thomas Lee Adams - Austin TX
Laura Kay Culli - Austin TX
Michael Albert Machacek - Bulverde TX
Richard Everett Sabinson - San Antonio TX
Assignee:
SBC Technology Resources, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
H04L 1256
US Classification:
370352, 370353, 370356
Abstract:
The present invention is an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) based system and method that allows a subscriber connected to the Internet via a dial-up connection to receive caller identification information concerning an incoming telephone call. The information may be provided via a pop-up dialog box on the subscribers display, which includes but is not limited to a monitor of a personal computer (PC). The information displayed to the subscriber includes the name and number of the calling party, if available. In addition, several disposition options are presented to the subscriber solely via the Internet which, upon selection, determine the handling of the incoming call.
