View page
US Patent:
20110290476, Dec 1, 2011
Filed:
May 28, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/789822
Inventors:
David Joe Steele - Arlington TX, US
Srinivasa Prasanna Vemuri - Irving TX, US
International Classification:
E21B 17/04
E21B 17/046
E21B 17/042
US Classification:
1662426
Abstract:
Assemblies that can be disposed in a subterranean bore and that can facilitate branch wellbore creation are described. An assembly can include threadedly coupled components having inner and outer sealing members in grooves. The sealing member can cooperate with the components to provide a pressure seal. The assembly can also include a venting member for equalizing pressure in a chamber defined by the coupled components. One of the components can be made from aluminum. At least part of that component can be coated with a coating material that is nonconductive.

US Patent:
20210140278, May 13, 2021
Filed:
Dec 8, 2017
Appl. No.:
16/088507
Inventors:
Aihua LIANG - Plano TX, US
Srinivasa Prasanna VEMURI - Frisco TX, US
International Classification:
E21B 41/02
E21B 23/02
Abstract:
A system and method to protect downhole tools and equipment used in transporting fluids with erosional and/or corrosive characteristics is disclosed according to one or more embodiments. The protection assembly engages with a latch coupling or other surface in need of protection to form a barrier between the latch coupling surface and any erosional or corrosive fluids. The protection assembly comprises a barrier sleeve portion and a support sleeve portion disposed in the barrier sleeve. The support sleeve is moveable between a first and second position within the barrier sleeve. In a first position of the support sleeve, collet fingers in the barrier sleeve may flex to allow movement through the latch coupling while in a second position of the support sleeve, the collet fingers may not flex and the barrier sleeve is engaged and protecting the latch coupling.
