Axle Hubcap Vent

View page
US Patent:
6783191, Aug 31, 2004
Filed:
Mar 11, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/385923
Inventors:
Steven G. Slesinski - Kalamazoo MI
Thomas E. Lyon - Lawton MI
Assignee:
Dana Corporation - Toledo OH
International Classification:
B60B 700
US Classification:
3011081, 3011084
Abstract:
A wheel end assembly is provided that allows venting of pressurized air from a chamber defined by the hubcap, but prevents entry of contaminants into the chamber. The wheel end assembly includes a hubcap that is configured to be coupled to a wheel and defines a chamber for retaining lubricant for wheel bearings for the wheel. One wall of the hubcap has an aperture in fluid communication with the chamber and a plug is disposed within the aperture. The plug defines a valve for releasing pressurized air from the chamber. The assembly finally includes a cap that is supported on the body of the plug and extends in an outboard direction. The cap is disposed over an outlet of the valve and defines a first fluid chamber in fluid communication with both the outlet of the valve and ambient air. The cap and plug can be inserted into and removed from the aperture as a unit.

US Patent:
7051465, May 30, 2006
Filed:
Aug 23, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/647037
Inventors:
Steven G. Slesinski - Kalamazoo MI, US
Charles E. Reagan - Grosse Pointe MI, US
International Classification:
G09F 21/04
US Classification:
40590
Abstract:
A sign assembly for mounting on a motor vehicle includes a first and second panel mounted to left and right rear doors, respectively, of a cargo storage compartment in a motor vehicle. The panels have substantially parallel inner edges positioned adjacent when the left and right rear doors are closed, an interface of the inner edges substantially aligned with an interface of the rear doors when closed. A plurality of spacers are positioned between the panels and the rear doors, and the spacers are sized to position the panels substantially parallel with the rear doors and sufficiently spaced therefrom to provide clearance for a vertical locking bar assembly integral with at least one of the doors.

Inventors:
Steven Slesinski - Kalamazoo MI, US
International Classification:
B60B 37/00
US Classification:
301124100
Abstract:
A lubrication deflector for a vehicle wheel hub assembly is disclosed. The wheel hub assembly has an inner cavity which has a recessed region. The lubrication deflector is placed within the recessed cavity within the wheel hub to substantially close the recessed region.

Method For Converting A Non-Driven Tag Axle System To A Driven Axle System

View page
US Patent:
20070219040, Sep 20, 2007
Filed:
May 14, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/803250
Inventors:
Francisco Garcia - Kalamazoo MI, US

Dale Kwasniewski - Galesburg MI, US
Steven Slesinski - Kalamazoo MI, US
International Classification:
F16H 48/06
US Classification:
475220000
Abstract:
A method for converting a non-driven tag axle system to a driven axle system is disclosed where a forward driven axle system is converted to drive an interaxle drive shaft. The interaxle drive shaft is connected to a drive axle head mounted within the tag axle housing. Drive axles are connected to drive axle head. In another embodiment, a forward driven axle system is removed from a first position on the vehicle frame and the tag axle is removed from a second position on the vehicle frame. A differential is installed in the tag axle and it is located in the first position. The forward driven axle system is located in the second position and connected to the differential in the first position.
