View page
US Patent:
20030015879, Jan 23, 2003
Filed:
Jul 23, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/912410
Inventors:
Burl Finkelstein - Newnan GA, US
Stevie Roop - Reston VA, US
International Classification:
E05C003/02
E05C003/12
US Classification:
292/213000
Abstract:
An improved latch for the sliding door of a truck or the like is disclosed. The latch includes a single rotary latch bar with ratchet steps and a locking arm that engages a strike and captures it as the door is moved into a latched position. The locking arm restrains the rotary latch bar so as to prevent it from releasing the strike. A lockout slide is mounted for manual movement within the latch assembly housing for movement into and out of locking engagement with an internal cam. The latch and strike assemblies are adaptable for remote, keyless entry, performed with all electrical components on the stationary side to provide for reliable and repeated use.

46884092, Aug 25, 1987
Filed:
Jun 6, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/873256
Inventors:
Ronald N. Oliver - Salem VA
Stevie C. Roop - Dugspur VA
Assignee:
Medeco Security Locks, Inc. - Salem VA
International Classification:
E05B 908
E05B 6300
US Classification:
70417
Abstract:
A high security drop-bolt lock assembly for a door includes a cylinder lock carried by a guard plate positionable on the outside of the door with the cylinder lock within the door, and a drop-bolt assembly on the inside of the door. The drop-bolt assembly is connected to protected studs extending from the guard plate to make a strong unitary construction extremely difficult to defeat and protecting the cylinder lock behind the guard plate and within the door.

Dropbolt Lock Assembly

US Patent:
50441817, Sep 3, 1991
Filed:
Mar 22, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/497174
Inventors:
Stevie C. Roop - Dugspur VA
Peter H. Field - Salem VA
Assignee:
Medeco Security Locks, Inc. - Salem VA
International Classification:
E05B 6312
US Classification:
70131
Abstract:
A dropbolt lock having a pair of dropbolts movable between knuckles is assembled on a formed steel assembly plate which is attached to a base plate, the assembly plate providing the spaced knuckles. A cam operator operates the dropbolts between true dead lock positions. On the inside of the lock, a cylinder lock or a thumb turn may be assembled by a single screw. The cover is provided with attachment screws which are concealed by the locking bolt when in locked position.

Convertible Cylinder Lock

View page
US Patent:
61787892, Jan 30, 2001
Filed:
Mar 30, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/281184
Inventors:
Burl Finkelstein - Newnan GA
Stevie C. Roop - Newnan GA
Assignee:
Kason Industries, Inc. - Shenandoah GA
International Classification:
E05B 1310
US Classification:
70210
Abstract:
A convertible cylinder lock handle comprises a hub, a handle extending from the hub, and a drive shaft extending from the hub along an axis of handle rotation. The hub has a channel sized to receive a lock cylinder and a slot that extends along and spacially communicates with the channel sized to receive a spring loaded lock cylinder bolt. The lock handle also has a bolt lock plate sized to be received in reversible orientations within the slot that has two stops spaced apart a distance to receive and entrap the cylinder bolt therebetween. One of the stops has a ramp for camming engagement with the spring loaded cylinder bolt whereby in one lock plate orientation the bolt is locked out of the lock plate and in its reversed orientation the lock plate receives and entraps the bolt. The handle is particularly suited for use on delivery van type vehicles as it is fully compatible with existing lock cylinders that may be removed with spanner tools without having to disassemble the handle. This enables van fleet users and body manufacturers to determine key numbers after the handles have been installed.

US Patent:
59799498, Nov 9, 1999
Filed:
Jun 15, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/094904
Inventors:
Burl Finkelstein - Newnan GA

High Security Post Lock

View page
US Patent:
50107453, Apr 30, 1991
Filed:
Aug 2, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/388495
Inventors:
Charles E. Hall - Salem VA
Stevie C. Roop - Dugspur VA
Assignee:
Medeco Security Locks, Inc. - Salem VA
International Classification:
E05B 6736
US Classification:
70 32
Abstract:
A high security post lock according to the invention includes a hardened shell having a head member at one end thereof and an eccentric locking cam rotatably mounted at the other end. The lock is adapted to be inserted through an opening passing through a door frame and a door to secure the door. In a first or open position, the circumference of the cam is coextensive with the circumference of the shell, so that the lock can be inserted into and withdrawn from the door. In a second or locked position, the locking cam projects outwardly from the shell to prevent withdrawal of the lock and thus secure the door. Movement of the cam is limited by a pin and groove arrangement.

US Patent:
48297984, May 16, 1989
Filed:
Oct 7, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/106043
Inventors:
Stevie C. Roop - Dugspur VA

E05B 1704
US Classification:
70379R
Abstract:
A combination switch lock/cam lock assembly which includes a one-piece shell, a plug with a tenon, an electrical switch, and a cam is insertable from the front face of a panel opening by not affixing the cam until after the lock is inserted. After the lock is inserted in the panel and secured by a panel nut, the cam is installed by insertion through a slot in the shell to engage and be rotated by the tenon, and a spring-like retainer carried by the cam grips the tenon to retain the cam on the tenon and prevent the cam from being easily removed from the shell.
