Inventors:
Mark W. Williams - Phoenix AZ, US
Robert D. Sleeper - Laveen AZ, US
Stuart K. Denike - Phoenix AZ, US
Don J. Atkins - Chandler AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International, Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
F16K 11/052
US Classification:
137876, 251305, 384129
Abstract:
The present invention provides a lounge valve mounting housing and assembly. The housing and assembly are useful for directing air through ducts, and particularly the assembly is useful for directing air, or other fluid, through Y-shaped junctions. The housing comprises in part a plate and a supported platform. The plate mounts to a duct. An actuator assembly can be affixed to the platform. The housing further includes a cylinder; a shaft is disposed within the cylinder and extends into the duct. A flapper affixed to the shaft can direct air depending on the radial position of the shaft. The housing and assembly offers weight and capital advantages over dual valve assemblies.

Abstract:
A regulator valve includes dual actuators that operate according to different principles to position a valve element to either an open or a closed position. One actuator, which is an electromechanical actuator, operates in response to electrical command signals. The other actuator, which is a pneumatic actuator, operates in response to a fluid pressure. The electromechanical actuator is responsive to the electrical command signals to rotate in either a valve open or a valve close direction, to move the valve element to either the open or closed position.

Inventors:
Mark W. Williams - Phoenix AZ, US
Robert D. Sleeper - Laveen AZ, US
Don J. Atkins - Chandler AZ, US
Stuart K. Denike - Phoenix AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International, Inc. - Morristown NJ

US Classification:
55312, 55313, 1375121, 1375125, 137527
Abstract:
A filter bypass valve is disposed in parallel with an aircraft cabin air filtration system air filter. During normal operation, air is filtered through the air filter at an air flow that meets air flow requirements of the system. The bypass valve is designed to remain closed during normal use, and to open if the differential pressure across the air filter reaches a predetermined opening differential pressure to allow airflow to be partially or fully diverted around the air filter.

Butterfly Valve With Integral Split Flapper Relief Valve

US Patent:
7325569, Feb 5, 2008
Filed:
Apr 25, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/114469
Inventors:
Stuart K. Denike - Phoenix AZ, US
Ronald J. Louis - Phoenix AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International, Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
F16K 15/18
US Classification:
1378992, 13761417, 1375121, 137523, 13759918, 2441185
Abstract:
A valve is provided that includes a valve housing, a valve element, and a flapper. The valve housing has a passage. The valve element is rotationally mounted in the passage and moveable between an open position and a closed position. Additionally, the valve element has a flow channel extending therethrough. The flapper is coupled to the valve element and moveable between a closed position, to thereby substantially seal the flow channel, and an open position, to thereby unseal the flow channel, the flapper configured to move to the open position when a differential pressure across the flapper reaches a predetermined value.

Collapsible Shaft And Control Assembly

US Patent:
7387291, Jun 17, 2008
Filed:
May 16, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/130948
Inventors:
Joseph J. Jira - Chandler AZ, US
Robert D. Sleeper - Laveen AZ, US
Mark W. Williams - Phoenix AZ, US
Stuart K. Denike - Phoenix AZ, US
Don J. Atkins - Chandler AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
F16K 1/22
US Classification:
251292, 251308
Abstract:
The present invention provides a collapsible shaft and control assembly that is useful for transferring rotational control valve movements to a control surface. The invention includes a housing, shaft, and actuator arm. The housing defines a hollow cylinder. The shaft has a resilient end with a plurality of flexible strips capable of radial bending so as to transition between an expanded position and a compressed position. The shaft is positioned in the hollow cylinder, in the expanded position, so that the shaft can rotate. The actuator arm is positioned within the resilient end of the shaft so as to maintain the resilient end of the shaft in the expanded position. Both the actuator arm and shaft include reciprocal engagement means, and the actuator arm and shaft are positioned so as to engage the reciprocal engagement means. A rotational movement of the actuator arm thus causes a rotational movement of the shaft. A flapper affixed to the shaft can direct air depending on the radial position of the shaft.

Linear Damper For Check Valve

US Patent:
7422029, Sep 9, 2008
Filed:
Sep 29, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/529952
Inventors:
Stuart K. Denike - Phoenix AZ, US
Joseph J. Jira - Laveen AZ, US
G. Stephen McGonigle - Gilbert AZ, US
Jeremiah J. Warriner - Laveen AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
F16K 15/00
F16K 17/00
F16K 21/04
F16K 21/10
US Classification:
1375121, 137514
Abstract:
A damping system, for a valve with a flapper movable between an open position and a closed position, comprises a main body and a piston. The main body has at least an inner wall that defines a chamber having fluid therein. The main body is coupled to the flapper, and is configured to move therewith. The piston is disposed at least partially within the chamber. The piston is configured to move within the chamber in a direction opposite the direction of movement of the main body when the flapper approaches the open position or the closed position, to thereby compress the fluid in a section of the chamber and slow movement of the main body. Movement of the flapper is thereby slowed when approaching the open position or the closed position.

1374875, 1375121, 137527, 13759914, 13760114, 251 65, 25112901
Abstract:
A pressure relief check valve system includes a valve body, a flapper, a magnet, an electromagnet, and a pressure sensor circuit. The flapper is rotationally mounted on the valve body and is movable between a closed position and an open position. The magnet is coupled to the flapper, and the electromagnet is coupled to the valve body. The pressure sensor circuit is adapted to sense one or more fluid pressures and is operable, based on the one or more sensed fluid pressures, to selectively supply or interrupt the electrical current to the electromagnet. The electromagnet is coupled to receive the electrical current and, upon receipt of the electrical current, either magnetically attracts or does not magnetically attract the magnet, to thereby hold the flapper in the closed position or allow flapper rotation to the open position, respectively.
