Low Voltage Power Supply

View page
US Patent:
8183845, May 22, 2012
Filed:
Nov 24, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/276721
Inventors:
Jonathan Wood - Sudbury MA, US
Timothy Krahn Trudeau - Roanoke VA, US
Assignee:
Exelis, Inc. - McLean VA
International Classification:
G05F 1/00
US Classification:
323282
Abstract:
A buck regulator for converting an input DC voltage, V, into an output DC voltage level includes a coupled inductor for outputting the DC voltage level, and an error amplifier for sensing an error in the outputted DC voltage level and a pulse width modulator (PWM) providing a pulse waveform having a duty cycle responsive to the error. Also, included are a V voltage driver for outputting the V voltage level responsive to the pulse waveform, and a super voltage driver for outputting a super voltage level, Vss, responsive to the pulsed waveform, wherein the super voltage level is higher than the V voltage level. The outputted super voltage level is complementary to the outputted V voltage level. Also included are dual MOSFETs, which have gates for, respectively, receiving the super voltage level and the V voltage level. The dual MOSFETs drive the coupled inductor for outputting the DC voltage level.

Dual Independent Push Button Rotary Knob Assembly

View page
US Patent:
8217742, Jul 10, 2012
Filed:
Nov 12, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/617178
Inventors:
Timothy Krahn Trudeau - Roanoke VA, US
Gregory Seth Bandy - Roanoke VA, US
Assignee:
Exelis, Inc. - McLean VA
International Classification:
H01H 9/00
US Classification:
335205, 335206, 200 4
Abstract:
The present invention includes a knob assembly which provides rotational movement and translational travel along an axis of dual and independent rotary knobs. The present invention controls electronics within a housing, without requiring protrusion into the housing. Having no protrusions into the housing avoids exposure of the electronics within the housing to environmental contaminants or electromagnetic interference. The components of the dual independent push button rotary knob assembly may operate without need for O-rings, gaskets, or any other applied sealants to prevent containments from entering the housing. Assembly of the knob assembly is simplified, because the rotary knob assembly may be installed and replaced without any tools and without need to access the interior of the housing. Furthermore, if any part of the assembly is damaged, the rotary knob assembly, in part or whole, may be replaced without compromising any seal provided to the exterior surfaces of the housing.

System And Method For Remote Focus In Night Vision Systems

View page
US Patent:
20120050536, Mar 1, 2012
Filed:
Aug 26, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/869090
Inventors:
BLAIR REUBEN DOBBIE - Roanoke VA, US
Timothy Krahn Trudeau - Roanoke VA, US
Assignee:
ITT MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES, INC. - WILMINGTON DE
International Classification:
H04N 5/335
G02B 7/08
US Classification:
348162, 359811, 348E05091
Abstract:
Focusing systems and methods for remotely controlling a focal position of an objective lens assembly in a night vision optical device are provided. The focusing system includes a focusing device and a focus selector. The focusing device includes an objective lens assembly positioned among two or more focus positions from an imaging array and a focus controller, coupled to the objective lens assembly, configured to translate the objective lens assembly relative to the imaging array among the two or more focus positions. The focus selector is remote from the focusing device and is configured to wirelessly transmit a selected focus position to the focus controller. The objective lens assembly is translated to one of the two or more focus positions in response to the selected focus position transmitted by the focus selector.

System For Mounting A Helmet-Mounted Device To A Helmet

View page
US Patent:
20140259317, Sep 18, 2014
Filed:
Mar 13, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/798757
Inventors:
- McLean VA, US
WILLIAM ERIC GARRIS - SALEM VA, US
TIMOTHY TRUDEAU - ROANOKE VA, US
CHRISTOPHER LEITZSCH - ROANOKE VA, US
TODD M. NEFF - SALEM VA, US
International Classification:
A42B 3/04
US Classification:
2422
Abstract:
Systems for mounting a helmet-mounted device to a helmet are disclosed. One such system comprises a frame configured to be movably coupled to the helmet, and an interconnect mechanism rotatably coupled to the frame. The interconnect mechanism is configured to receive the helmet-mounted device. The interconnect mechanism is rotatable relative to the frame between a use position for the helmet-mounted device and a stow position for the helmet-mounted device.
