US Patent:
41529618, May 8, 1979
Filed:
Jan 18, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/870534
Inventors:
William A. Batson - Pickens SC
Assignee:
The Singer Company - New York NY
International Classification:
B27B 520
US Classification:
834713
Abstract:
A radial saw including a table with a work support surface to which a frame is connected below the work support surface. A post is connected to the frame at the rear thereof, and a support arm cantilevers over the table from its post connection. A pair of support rods, one round and one square are affixed to the support arm. A slide is fitted with bearings that will separately journal the round rod in close fit and the square rod in loose fit. A motor for the saw is carried by the slide to be moved therewith in translatory motion across the work support surface. The frame and the post are each angularly adjustable to permit selective straight cutting, or various miter and compound angle cuts.

US Patent:
42455332, Jan 20, 1981
Filed:
Jul 26, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/061163
Inventors:
William A. Batson - Pickens SC
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B26D 116
US Classification:
834713
Abstract:
A motor operated circular miter chop saw is pivotally mounted on a generally horizontal axle pivot bolt about which it rotates in a vertical plane with the axle pivot bolt being carried by a cast support base structure provided with means allowing lateral adjustment of one end of the axle pivot bolt and vertical adjustment of the other end. Angular orientation of the work piece is provided by an angularly adjustable fence rotatably carried by the cast base support structure with the fence having lugs cooperating with an arcuate slot or groove provided in the cast base support structure. The cast base support structure is also provided with an arcuate slot to provide clearance for the circular saw blade while an adjustable stop is provided carried by the cast support base to preclude the circular saw blade from contacting the cast support base structure. Spring means are also provided for biasing the saw to an upwardly pivoted position.

William A. Batson - Pickens SC
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Stamford CT
International Classification:
B27B 520
US Classification:
83468
Abstract:
A motor operated circular miter chop saw is pivotally mounted on a generally horizontal axle pivot bolt about which it rotates in a vertical plane with the axle pivot bolt being carried by a cast support base structure. Angular orientation of the work piece is provided by an angularly adjustable fence rotatably carried by the cast base support structure with the fence having a generally downwardly open circularly arcuate groove cooperating with a pair of machined steel pins pressed into the cast base support structure. The cast base support structure is also provided with an arcuate slot to provide clearance for the circular saw blade and leaf spring means are provided carried by the cast support base bias the fence rearwardly so that the pins engage against the inward wall of the fence groove.
